Model invertebrates offer many advantages over vertebrates, including their short life cycle, simple anatomy and cost-effectiveness due to the ease with which large numbers of individuals may be studied.

Contents:

This international seminar, organized in collaboration with RESAL,  will illustrate the potential of some species of invertebrates to contribute to biomedical research as model organisms to reveal fundamental biological processes including those involved in disease.

Also concepts relevant to ethics and potential for suffering will be covered.
